Nominations are invited for filling up the vacancies of the Office Bearers and the Members of the Executive Board of the Indian Academy of Pediatrics for the year 2008 from amongst the Fellow, Life and Ordinary Members of the Society.

Only eligible Fellow / Life / Ordinary members of the Society who have paid their annual subscription for the current year, shall be eligible to offer themselves as candidates for election or to propose or second the candidature of any member or to participate in voting at the election. Members should see that their subscriptions are first paid up before they offer themselves as candidates or propose or second the candidature of any member, as the case may be.

The eligible Fellow / Life / Ordinary Member contesting for the post of President-Elect should have been a member of the Society for 10 complete years and should have served on the Executive Board or as Office Bearers or both for a period of 2 years before contesting for the post of President-Elect.

A member contesting for the post of Secretary General should have been a member of the Society for 7 years as on or before 1st January to be eligible to contest for the ensuing election and should have served on the Executive Board for two complete years before contesting for the post of Secretary General.

A member contesting for the post of Treasurer should have been a member of the Society for 5 complete years as on or before 1st January to be eligible to contest for the ensuing election and should have served on the Executive Board for one complete year before contesting for the post of Treasurer.

A member contesting for the membership of the Executive Board must have been a Fellow and/or Life and/or Ordinary Member of the Society for 5 complete years.

All eligible Fellow / Life / Ordinary members may nominate / vote for the post of President-Elect / the Secretary General / the Treasurer.

The eligible State Fellow / Life / Ordinary members may nominate / vote for their respective State Executive Board Member(s) for stated number of vacancies to be filled-up.

Further, it may be noted that for filling up the vacancies of the Secretary General and the Treasurer, only residents of the place where the Central Office of the Society is located could be nominated under the rules of the Society.

Nominations shall be duly proposed and seconded by eligible Fellow and/or Life and/or Ordinary Members and consented to by the candidates concerned. All the particulars contained in the Nomination Paper should be correctly filled up. A Form of Nomination Paper is printed herein.

by name should reach his office at the address given above NOT LATER THAN 3.00 P.M. ON 28TH JUNE 2007.

The candidate is required to pay applicable 'Nomination Fee' as per the rates given below:

• Nomination Fee for the post of President-Elect Rs.1,000/-
• Nomination Fee for the post of Secretary General Rs.1,000/-
• Nomination Fee for the post of Treasurer Rs.1,000/-
• Nomination Fee for the post of Executive Board Member Rs.500/-

The Nomination Fee should be paid by a crossed bank draft drawn in favour of “Indian Academy of Pediatrics” payable at Mumbai or by cash.

The Nomination Fee should accompany the Nomination Paper or follow within stipulated deadline for filing nomination failing which the Nomination shall be disqualified. The Nomination Fee is non-refundable. However, 50% of the paid up fee shall be refunded to those who withdraw their nomination in time.

Those candidates who wish to publish their biodata / message in “Academy Today” or in a separate booklet should send the same along with their Nominations together with 2 passport size photographs. Restrict your biodata / message to 200 words for the post of Executive Board Member and 400 words for the post of Office Bearers. Any biodata / message containing more than the required number of words may be truncated. Only those biodatas / messages received in time shall be published. Any biodata / message received after the last date will not be accepted for publication. The authenticity of biodata will be moral responsibility of the candidate.

Any validly nominated candidate not desiring to contest the election shall withdraw his nomination within a period of 15 days from the date of finalization of the list of validly nominated candidates by the Scrutinizing Committee appointed by the Executive Board for the purpose. The Chief Election Officer shall forward the list of validly nominated candidates for information to the contesting candidates as soon as the scrutiny of the Nomination papers is over.

Each voter shall be entitled to cast one vote for each vacancy. Any ballot paper containing more than the required number of votes or in any way disclosing the identity of the voter shall be invalid.

The Ballot Papers containing the names of the validly nominated candidates except those who have withdrawn in time shall be posted to the members from 1st SEPTEMBER TO 17TH SEPTEMBER 2007. The Ballot Papers duly marked and addressed to:

A list containing the names and addresses of Fellow, Life and Ordinary Members of the Society shall be supplied on request at Rs.5000/- per copy. It may please be noted that the list of members is no indication as to whether a particular member is in arrears of his annual subscription for the current year.

The Scrutinizing Committee shall scrutinize the Ballot Papers after the last date fixed for the receipt of Ballot Papers and results will be declared.
