IAP Introduction

The Indian Academy of Pediatrics was established in 1962, in Patna, Bihar with less than 100 pediatricians as its members. Today, in the year 2012 there are over 20,000 members across the country. It has State, District, and City level branches. The Academy has promoted different specialties in the field of Pediatrics through it various Chapters.

The IAP is the only association of Pediatricians in India as compared with other organizations of medical specialties that are often fragmented and segmented. This indicates the unity that the association has been able to maintain among its members over the past 46 years.

RCPCH TRAINING POSITIONS (UK)

"Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) UK has a number of training positions available for doctors outside the European Economic Area.  These training opportunities are allocated by means of application, shortlisting and interview using the forms and guidance supplied by RCPCH and available from their website www.rcpch.ac.uk/ipts .  Each training position is available under Tier 5 of the UK immigration regulations and so limited to a maximum of 24 months.  The first few months of each training programme will be spent in a junior general paediatric post to enable doctors to familiarise themselves with the NHS and its operations.  The training undertaken following this period will vary according to what is available in each programme submitted to the scheme.  Junior programmes will include general paediatrics and some neonatalogy, while Senior programmes may include sub-specialty training and it will be important for applicants to complete the forms available on the RCPCH website to ensure that their interests can be taken into account. Kindly mark a copy of your application to Central IAP office for information."
